Privacy Policy

The Privacy Act 1988 regulates how business enterprises with an annual turnover of $3 million or less manage personal data. The Act employs 13 privacy principles, which underpin the Perspective Matters Counselling privacy policy below.

  • Transparency. Clients will be informed about why and how their personal information is used at all times.
  • Confidentiality. Client data will remain confidential unless its non-disclosure poses a risk to themselves or others.
  • Data Storage. Client data will be stored to protect it from loss, damage, modification, unauthorised access, or disclosure.
  • Data Collection. The data collected from clients will be limited to what is necessary for understanding and addressing their challenges.
  • Transparency. Clients will be informed about why and how their personal information is used at all times.
  • No irrelevant data will be collected.
  • Data Access. Clients will have the right to access their personal data upon request. Subject to the exceptions outlined in the Privacy Act 1988, clients may also request updates and amendments to their personal data.
  • Data Accuracy. Client data will be accurately recorded and kept up-to-date.
  • Data Disclosure. Subject to the client’s consent or when required by law, the client's personal data may be disclosed to a third party.
  • Data Breaches. In the event of a data breach, affected clients will be notified as soon as possible.
